Tenbury Town Band support the annual WFRA reunion 1st June

Tenbury Town Band was recently invited to perform for the Regimental reunion of The Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regiment at the Warriors rugby stadium which this year fell on the anniversary of the regimental battle honour of the Glorious First of June which occurred in 1794, due to a shortfall of Marines, detachments of the 29th Regiment of Foot were aboard British warships of the channel fleet as they headed out to sea to intercept a protected French convoy. In the subsequent action the 29th were awarded Naval Crown to be borne on their colours.


The band has a long association with the regiment which goes back almost 40yrs, which included tours in Gibraltar and Cyprus, ex members of the 1 WFR band still visit Tenbury Wells to play with the band for the annual May concert.


On Saturday Tenbury Town Band performed two concert sets and accompanied the drum head service of remembrance and the march past which was led by the Regimental mascot LCpl Derby XXIX a pedigree Swaledale ram from the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth estate.


This is the first time a non-regimental band has ever been asked to play for this event!!
