Burford House Garden Store - Leukaemia and Lymphoma fundraising event
The Band has been supporting the awareness week for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. It was all part of a national campaign for “small change BIG IMPACT”, which encouraged people to donate their small change to make a difference. This was a huge success and we were very pleased to collect £184.31. There were many people supporting the event while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and having lunch. Our thanks go to Paul Benson, Manager at Burford House and Garden Store who supported us by allowing us to play at this lovely setting.
The Mercian Volunteers Regimental Association (MVRA) held a Families Day at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire on Sunday 14th September 2014. The Band was asked to provide music for the service which included hymns, The National Anthem, Last Post and Reveille. This was followed by the March Past, where the Band played Under the Double Eagle.
The event was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and to remember all those members of the territorial battalions of our antecedent regiments who answered the voluntary call to arms in 1914.
After the Drum Head Service the Band played while refreshments were served and picnics were enjoyed
It was a high profile event for the band and there were some lovely comments from the organisers who were very impressed with the professionalism of a civilian band.
This was a truly memorable day and a fantastic experience to be involved with.
