Tenbury Town Band make a donation to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research
Tenbury Town Band would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Concert. The donation to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research was £2000. This cause is very close to all our hearts.
Many people will know the band Chairlady Lorraine Gray. In June 2012 her husband Sean was diagnosed with leukaemia. After many tests and treatments Sean had a bone marrow transplant which was successful and he seemed well on the way to recovery. Sadly he lost his fight for life at the end of October last year at the young age of 44. The Band had chosen the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research charity when Sean was making progress in support of the care he was receiving, but since his death it made the cause even more important.
The cheque was presented to Emma Jones who is the Regional Co-ordinator for the Charity and is based in Birmingham at the QE Hospital.
The money raised was £1500 from the Christmas concert and a further £500 from three other Christmas events including playing Carols outside the Regal on Christmas Eve.
The band is looking forward to supporting Town Mayor George Price on 8th March at the Regal for his Charity Concert.
